10:48AM - Whee!

Two (more) temp agency interviews yesterday, another one today. Here's hoping.

And in random linkage: sometimes you just gotta dance.

8:16AM - Vector/planning ahead

Via [info]tdj: City of Shadows. Photos of St. Petersburg, shot with long exposure. The results vary from intriguing to eerie.

And a head's-up: July 26-27 is Blogathon 2008 -- 24 hours, 48 posts, all for charity. I'll be participating over on my fic journal [info]karolja, to benefit The Nature Conservancy. Sponsors welcome, or observe the mayhem!

9:07PM - :ping:

So. Over on LJ, I'm doing a personal writing challenge. (A story/snippet per day, 100 words minimum, any fandom (or original), any rating.)

Interest in reading crossposting: y/n?

4:10PM - In which Thia is practical. And twelve. Mostly practical.

BOOKS FREE TO GOOD HOMES. Mysteries! Fantasy! Vampires! Romance! )

And other observations on moving. )

2:18PM - Not dead yet!

Rather enjoying the early-summer weather, actually. Even if it does mean leaving all my windows open so my apartment doesn't try to overheat itself. This has meant that the past few days, I've been awakened by the loud cooing of pigeon(s?) on the little roof outside my front windows. The cats find this of interest, of course, leading me to suppose that the pigeon is unobservant, stupid, or sadistic. "Ha-ha! I can sit out here and coo, and you can't do anything about it!"

(Sadistic Pigeons: good band name y/n?)

State of the Thia: job-hunting, handbells, and the continued temptation of the apartment. )

...and random fannish thoughts: since when is mystery a shonen genre? And do the creators of YYH know about the fanon? )

Current mood: cheerful

9:30AM - What's the job equivalent of 'it's not you, it's me'?

Answer: "We're moving in a different direction than we were two years ago, and the job as it currently exists doesn't really play into your strengths. We'd like you to stay on another couple of weeks, help with the transition. I've already spoken to [person] about the strong possibility of you moving to [other job in same building], which I think would suit you much better. Give him a call and let me know what he says!"

Only longer, and with more apologies, and more emphasis on the fact that I'm a good person and a good worker and just not a good fit for them, and generally giving every impression that Boss 1 feels horribly guilty about this whole thing.

On the one hand? Two weeks notice does kind of suck. And, you know, oh dear God we're in a recession, job hunting is no fun, how am I going to pay my bills if.

On the other hand? This means I get out of here before I go insane. And [Person] has already stopped by here, with encouraging words about [other job]

...I have absolutely no idea how to react right now.

Current mood: really really confused

11:19AM - :whistles cheerful little springcleaning song:

Even if I do have too much paper to sort through. And not enough shelf space. Ah well.

(Q: Is there such a thing as 'enough shelf space'?
A: Supposedly, yes. It involves giving books away.)

Current mood: nonsensical

8:45PM - Vidding/watching AMVs

...or 'how much of Internal Editor waking up is due to knowing what to look for, and how much to just observation?'

I mean, really, anyone who's watched a badly dubbed movie has seen 'lip flap.' I don't remember this as much of a problem in live action fan-vids, but that might be because no one expects or looks for correllation. In AMVs, lip sync is common. And really obvious when it's not working*.

On the other hand, a lingering shot of [something sorta but not completely relevant] while the music is moving along oblivious? I've seen that in official movie soundtrack music videos, let alone fan-made, and it's annoying regardless.

Back to work. Right.

*And for pity's sake, if you're going to loop a clip to try to match lip flap, use one without subtitles. I'd have thought this tip was obvious, except then I watched two AMVs in a row with the same flub.

6:33PM - Only...four days later!

So. Anime Boston.

This cut containing but not limited to: tiny fandom power!, why teenies should not cosplay certain characters, Sanzos are not for hugging, and the best Ouran High School Host Club in Boston. Very image-heavy. )

1:42AM - Home from Anime Boston.

Has been fun weekend. Took many many pictures. Failed at all-nighter.

This was as religious as my Easter got.

More details, and pictures, tomorrow.
